Round 3: Centrals v West - Saturday 14 April @ My Money House Oval

Post by Brucetiki on Wed Apr 11, 2018 11:06 am

Centrals v West
Saturday 14 April
My Money House Oval

Reserves: 11:30am
League: 2:10pm

Both sides would be very disappointed in their losses last weekend. Who will bounce back for the win?

If Centrals beat North by 60 and North beat West by 140, what could happen here?

I might tip West in the spirit of perverse reverse world order!

Westies will be embarrassed by the last match and come out fighting but Centrals will be too strong. Not 200 points too strong but 5 goals worth.

Having seen Westies outs perhaps 10 goals may be closer to the margin.

Been rare that I've left a match feeling that gutted.

Having attended, and watched back home, many Commonwealth Games events over the past week or so where teams dig deep, and fight, regardless of how dire their situation is, I was appalled at the way Centrals played that second half in comparison. They barely gave a yelp, turned the ball over ad nauseam, and put in such a half-arsed effort. Absolutely pathetic.

Congrats to Gavin Colville for 1st win as League coach. Someone who I would like to see do well, and in light of his playing career, funnily enough, the win being against the Dogs.

Gavin has been a great appointment by the Board, IMO.

I liked so much about yesterday.  Just a few:

Porps.

Dustin Head, 3 knee reconstructions and total commitment for the jumper

Shannon Green, hobbled off in distress, back on the ground and key to the win.

Tyler McPherson's ruck effort. Tireless, great commitment.

Conor Noonan's debut.

Murray Waite, recruited from the TAC 2 years ago, ill and injured last year, lovely skills.

Nathan Batley, skills, clean hands, got us out of trouble often, calm.

Fielk's long goal.

Tom Keough.  Captain.

Gavin Colville's coaching.

True supporters who kept the faith.

Lots of others.

Not so good: Set shots.& goalkicking accuracy.

Love this club.

Well said Lee. I also liked what Logan Hill said to every one in the rooms after game. I loved Conor Noonan's

Central were scoreless at Elizabeth in the 3rd quarter for the first time since Rd 20 1986 vs Woodville 7.4 (46)
Lowest 3rd quarter score against West at Elizabeth previous to this match gone was 0.1 (1) vs 7.5 (47), Rd 16 1966
The 0.3 (3) for the 2nd half by Central was the equal 2nd lowest ever, only behind the single behind scored against Port, Rd 17 1967 at Elizabeth and equal with Rd 4 1964 against Glenelg.
It was only the 2nd time Central have been goalless at Elizabeth after half time, the 1967 match being the other
The previous lowest 2nd half score by Central against West was 1.4 (10) vs 10.14 (74) Rd 3 1965 Adelaide
At Elizabeth it was 2.3 (15) vs 7.6 (48) Rd 10 1968
