Remembrance Day

Post by Lee on Tue Nov 11, 2014 7:02 pm

Lots of thoughts today for my dad.

Ninth Division, 2/48th Battalion, B Company.

North Africa, one of the famous 'Rats of Tobruk', the huge battle of El Alamein, twice wounded in action in North Africa.

New Guinea, Buna, Gona, Lae, etc.

Tarakan.

Thanks Dad and all servicemen and women for their service and sacrifice.

Proud West Adelaide supporter.

Of all the days on the calender, this one is my most respected
Its a day to remember everyone involved in any war

Today I was travelling in the Eastern suburbs
I pulled up to the side of the road at 11:00
I sat in the car and reflected on why 11/11 is such a commemorative day

I did the same at work, a one minute silence was observed and a lot of thought went through my mind of the thousands of men and women who gave the greatest sacrifice possible for there country.

We observed the minutes silence at work, at cudos to the truckie in Sydney who stopped his rig and did the same....
