i spoke to the driver of the actual horse that ran tonight, he (Michael) didn't know about the kerfuffle & added that when he returned for the ''all clear'' he came back in third place..........all parties will blame each other

The TABs paid out before they were informed of the error
There was no third dividend
So it only affected Trifecta and Pick 4 players only, of which they paid out

$2288 Trifecta Pool
$ 484 Pick 4 pool
$2772 Invested
The TAB would take about 20% commission
$554 commissions
$2218 the approximate total cost of dividends to the punters

In essence they have paid out the wrong winners to the amount of $2218

Unitab in good faith should have reversed the numbers and paid out another $2218 to the rightful winners

Is $2218 too much to ask for a multi million dollar operation to pay out ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

from the stewards report.......

RACE 6 –TOLL SPD PACE
Driver Paul Fidge (TIANISCHOICE) was reprimanded for the speed he set whilst leading during the middle half of the event. In only issuing a reprimand some mitigating circumstances were taken into consideration

Sometime after the final race it was established the incorrect numbers (placing’s 3rd & 4th) had been notified to the TAB, by the steward in charge. The numbers of the placed horses notified to the TAB were 5,2,3,6 where in fact the correct numbers should have been 5,2,6 & 3. After reviewing the matter, whilst blame for the error was not attributed to any individual as it appeared that a breakdown in procedure was the cause of the error, it is acknowledged that the steward in charge is ultimately responsible for notifying the correct numbers to the TAB and this had not happened on this occasion. The stewards will review all aspects of the all clear procedure to prevent any reoccurrence.

I liked this part
* the steward in charge is ULTIMATEly responsible...

The horse that ends up being wrongly declared 3rd  was called ULTIMATE Luck !

You get to know the horses by their colours.

I should have made it clearer

From how I understand it
The drivers will still wear their stable uniform colors
It will be the saddle clothes that will change
Otherwise the poor drivers will need 10 different uniforms [and more in bigger fields of 11+]

beat me to it, i asked about this at this mornings trials at Globe Derby & i can confirm it is the saddle cloth numbers & they'll be a bit bigger than the normal saddle cloths for easier vision

saddle cloth colors now in use

Sounds like a good thing for the spectators both at the track and watching on TV, well done.

Saturday night racing at headquarters could be a thing of the past in the not too distant future

with Sky racing sending Adelaide trots to sky 2 on Saturday nights, while some changes have already been made where the opportunity has presented itself, there is deep discussions taking place about when to race to maximise turnover by having all racing on sky1, the most common thought i've been told is Friday night & Monday afternoon to remain the same & a Tuesday or Wednesday night as the third meeting with Friday becoming the 'city meeting' i know the Sydney tab owns Sky but i believe that all city meetings Australia wide should take preference to the country meetings, i can't belive that a Wagga Wagga type of meeting should be put in front of a city meeting whether that be Adelaide, Brisbane or whoever

The advent of Sky2 has had both a positive and negative impact on the local dogs and trots.

What would it cost for Sky to have a channel for each code?

Thursday night was dog night - now there are trots on.
Friday night was a traditional trot night and now over summer we have gallops interfering.

sundays is just the TABs version of Pokie machine day with a race anywhere and everywhere all day every minute

the theory from those more knowledgeable than me suggest having a racing, pacing & chasing separate stations will do no favour for the dogs or trots, when a mixture is on, you get the desperates betting ''on the next to run'' which means you won't get that ''mug money'' if your racing on another station, also not every home has sky2

Friday night at the trots was the norm before moving to GD.
Wayville was always on a Friday night up against Harold Park (Now at Menangle)

If Friday night racing is more lucrative to the club then it won't bother me.
Circumstances have changed from the past with racing of all forms in this country like an epidemic, every day of the week at every moment there is a race somewhere.
I have heard it said that there are a number of horse trainers interstate (Gallops) that are suffering from depression just because of the workload, the eastern states are racing 7 days a week.

As for GD, sky 1 on a Friday is the way to go IMO.

Good point Bayman about the mug money, I guess that's where the dogs capitalise on twilight racing, getting all the patrons who go to the pub after work.

Perhaps the reduction in the market share by not feeding off the gallops will make the trots/dogs marketing departments do some work.

And another correct point in not all households having foxtel, let alone sky2.....but the way around that is to have an interstate TAB account and you can access SKY1 and 2 for free.

it would be an interesting experiment to see how much mug money is in the trots/dogs??

personally the over-saturation of racing is a deterrent, a photo finish to a bet you have on the Mandurah dogs and then they are worried about Redcliffe trots that are about start......

Changes to Racing Schedule

19 March 2015
by Office of the Chief Executive Officer, John Lewis
Logo

MEDIA RELEASE

HRSA wishes to advise of the following interim changes to the South Australian harness racing schedule.
From 10 April to 30 June 2015, the Friday night Sky 1 timeslot for SA harness racing will be the main weekly race meeting. Therefore Friday night racing will be held weekly at Globe Derby Park. The only exception to this will be the Port Pirie Cup race meeting, which will now be held on Friday 17 April at Port Pirie.
This decision was taken following advice from Sky Racing to place the Saturday night timeslot for SA harness racing on Sky 2 on an interim basis.
The Saturday night Sky 2 timeslot will alternate between Globe Derby Park and Port Pirie.
The Monday race meeting Sky 1 timeslot remains unchanged.

i don't know, those in charge would have the facts & figures to support the move etc, i just wonder what effect it has on the paceway restaurant by racing on Fridays, will they open it on Friday, Saturday or both nights ? obviously it is a lot easier for people to go to the restaurant (any one for that matter) on a Saturday night than be rushed on the Friday night after work

Scrappy, I was ecstatic when my one and only pacer won its first race at Kapunda, then won at Gawler, in the late 1970's.

Trained and driven by ......

Jim Hurley.

We'll have to catch up for a chat soon at Vizzy's.
