not globe derby but Mondays meeting at Victor Harbor has been cancelled, it is too easy for trainers to walk their horses across the road at globe derby rather than travel, trotting should be taking their show ''on the road'' so more than just the diehards see it & who knows you could even get a 'convert'

Unfortunately poor prize money and infighting in the industry in SA has seen it go backwards faster than in the rest of the country (make no mistake the industry is not as healthy as it used to be anywhere). It's a sad state of affairs but this is a sport on its last legs.

We had this proposed Victor Harbor meeting on Monday 5/10/2015
On the same day there is a Strathalbyn race meeting

Some of the locals do support these meetings
The local people within a similar proximity to both tracks , cant be 2 places at once though

PROBLEM ?
Interesting times coming up very shortly
There is a reduction in prize monies , 5% has been mentioned
This 5% grab is to cover the costs of running meetings at GDP
However
There are enough stables who might be willing to take action against this reduction of stake money?
This action may involve a strike/strikes of sorts ?

Might expect some media release shortly on the matter

2016 UBET SOUTH AUSTRALIAN PACING CUP (GROUP 1) Globe Derby, Saturday 9th January.

Not that i follow the trots but it's my annual outing to Globe Derby with the family which is usually a good night out. Anyone got a tip for the big race on Saturday night?

Or tips in other races shown in the link below.

Flaming Flutter looks the winner but is too short, for the night i like......

''Giddy Up'' on an each way basis (got $10.00 win & $2.60 place on sportsbet)

''Tommy Kay'' looks a moral to me in the last, (i took $2.25 on sportsbet, should be shorter)

best roughie is a horse named after Lee, that is ''Pocketfullofcash'' ($21.00 on bet365)

This is a really interesting race. Flaming Flutter is proven at the top level but don't discount Hotasel who is a star on the rise. Major Crocker is a great horse too who can't crack a good barrier and I'd be putting him, Crusader Acey and Come On Frank into my exotics.

anymore & you may as well have the field, you can discount Frank as he is racing well below par

Really 5 horses for a pick 4 is too many?

Hotasel is my top pick. I think he can lead and will be too good. Flaming Flutter for 2nd because he's the class horse of the race. Major Crocker or Crusader Acey for third. Is that better?

well if you said ''i'd throw these in trifectas & first 4's'' i would have understood it much better

Flaming Flutter won bayman..but i didn't back it, i had no 3 which came in second.
I won on the first 2 races with $5 on the nose with both of them...  the first ended up being favourite and i just got back a little more than i put on it..
In race 2 i backed Cheap Tint and it got me a $57.00 return and the only reason i picked that horse was because they were playing a Cheap Trick song before the race. Smile
Had a couple of other small bets but no good.
All in all a good night was had... except for the mozzies, but the pancakes with strawberries and ice cream are a hit. Smile

fb, you must be a very very lucky person,i copy & pasted a section from the stewards report from Saturday night..........

Approaching the 250 metres D. Hill (CHEAP TINT) was able to ease STASHEDBYTHERIVER wider, however soon after STASHEDBYTHERIVER was checked when it contacted the offside sulky tyre of CHEAP TINT. CHEAP TINT finished the race with a flat tyre and after the race the tyre came off the rim. In the circumstances the incident was noted.

fb, not too many win with a flat tyre
