They are still alive !
Perhaps the oldest living male and female stars of the screen
Both 98 not out

1/7/1916 Olivia De Havilland
9/12/1916 Kirk Douglas

OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND
If you back far enough Olivia was in Errol Flynn movies
Olivia is a relation to the Haverlands of Normandy fame
Lord Havilland visited England in 1066 with  William and others

Olivia is also the older sister of Joan Fontaine
These 2 apparently didnt get on well
So much so that Olivia was 9 , she made a will, with this content
" I bequeath all my beauty to my younger sister since she has none"

KIRK DOUGLAS
Can anyone imagine Kirk singing the song I was born under a wandrin star, ala Lee Marvin or Neil Kerley ?
Kirk knocked back the part in Cat Ballou , and Lee Marvin got the gig

Heres a few that would have been 100 this year

Anthony ' Zorba' Quinn
Harry ' Mash' Morgan
Frank ' blue eyes' Sinatra
Lorne ' Ben' Greene
Orson ' the war of the worlds' Welles

I vote Lorne Greene as the best of those in the acting field
Greene once recorded a smash hit  song called Ringo
Despite that success , I would say Frankie was a better singer

Think I'd have Orson Welles in front of Lawn Green.

Natalie Woods first on screen kiss was with James Dean in a TV show before the movie Rebel Without A Cause on a TV show hosted by Ronald the prez Reagan
It has been said she fancied James Dean , she eventually ended up with Robert RJ Wagner

RJ may never had romanced Natalie
Debbie Reynolds was RJs girl for a while
She was a nice girl , too nice, believed in no sex b4 marriage
It has been said thats why RJ split with her

If things were different , the stunning Natalie Wood may not have ended up with RJ  and may  have lived a longer life

If James Dean romanced Natalie Wood they might both have lived longer lives

Natalie Wood was a stunner.
Loved her in Splendour in the Grass with Warren Beatty.
I don't think the circumstances surrounding her drowning were ever resolved were they?

Wagner didn't do too badly after her with Jill St John.

And he had that series with Stephanie Powers (another stunner) "Hart to Hart".

RJ and Wood married in 1957 [and later remarried in 1972]
The first honeymoon was on RJs yatch , and they ventured off the coast of Catalina Island
24 years later , Wood drowned, off a boat , near the same area where she and RJ honeymooned

Her death remains a mystery
She was certainly  a beautiful looking woman

ALL THE FINE CANNIBALS [1960]
Wood was in this superb movie with RJ
Another beautiful actress , Susan Kohner also starred
Might just be me, but Kohner and Wood look almost like twins
Yep, google Susan Kohner and see if there is any resemblance

Here are some eerie connections about Stephanie Powers and Wagner's women.

She met Robert Wagner on the set of West Side Story (1961) prior to being let go from the cast (Jet girl) because she was too young (15). She later appeared with him in the 1970's series "Hart to Hart".

She was in the same ballet class as a youngster with Natalie Wood and Jill St. John, the three women all had long term relationships with Robert Wagner.

Wood as Wagner's first and third wife, St. John as Wagner's fourth wife, and Stefanie as long time co-star and 50+ year friend.

The deaths of her life partner William Holden and good friend, Natalie Wood occurred within days of each other in November '81.

Twilight Zone?

And how ridiclous is this?
I posted the comment below in the "Unfortunate names" thread.

....Or Octopussy!

The line went something like...

HB: "I'm Pussy Galore"
SC: " I must be dreaming"

Honor Blackman was 39 when she had the leading lady gig in this Bond flick.

I loved the way Connery pronounced it when speaking to her...."Poooossy"
in that broad Scottish brogue.

And there was "Plenty O'Toole" from Diamonds Are Forever. Alas poor Plenty got chucked out of a Las Vegas window from the 10th floor. So we won't know just how plentiful she was.

I think Ursula Andress (Honeychild Ryder) who was the first Bond Girl still remains my favourite.

.....No Bayman you can't have her. She's too young (and alive) anyway for you. She's only be in her 70s!!!

The character of Plenty O'Toole in Diamonds are Forever, was played by Lana Wood, Natalie's real life sister.

Talk about threads colliding!

Just finished watching Splendor In The Grass
Not much of a story line , but the acting was intense
Wood and Beatty , young love , the world in front of them
Only he wanted an Eric Carmen , Go all the way
She was The Knack girl, Good Girls Dont
Then things .....
It has been said that in real life ,  Wood was too attracted to Warren , and this led to a split between Wood and Wagner

There was one eerie quirk about watching this splendid film
Sorry for the spoiler
An estranged Wood jumped into a river, swam frantically towards a waterfall
She was saved before she was seemingly about to  drown

Plastic surgery certainly improved her looks
Because of that she blossomed with age , and arguably looking better in age than in youth

As a plain 9 year old she was allowed to drive her families Model T
As I understand it, she was in a prang , and damaged her nose and face
The remedy?
She had a steak placed on her damaged nose, Phyllis has said it was the worse thing that could have happened.
She claims it made her beak crookeder and longer

From that point she looked ugly, she felt ugly
I never thought she was that ugly though

It was a turning point of her life , to get over her looks she developed a comedic personality to mix with people
This in turn made her into a funny woman

PD once did a playboy bizzo, but was rejected !
She also often dressed up so no one would recognize her in public , one of her outfits was to be  dressed as a nun

In the movie Splendor In The Grass , Diller had a stage part cracking jokes

SEAN CONNERY

This is probably right :
In 1963 he was playing the roulette wheel in Italy
he kept backing number 17
on the 3rd spin 17 came up
he let it ride , 17 again
he let it ride a third time 17 again
then he stopped
Connery left the table with 17 million lire [about 10,000 pounds]

Apparently Connery played the same 17 number again, in the movie Diamonds Are Forever

Maybe it was the number of women he had had up until then.
Unfortunately the roulette numbers don't run high enough to keep up with his count. At least his "on screen" count.

I dunno that scene with the shells on the beach in Dr No still gives me goose bumps. I'd take Ursula.

He didn't do too bad though. No wonder he was worried about heart attacks.

When he was pulled over by Victorian police

This was after a shoot in the controversial Mad Dog Morgan movie
He got behind the wheel , told people he used to be a racing car driver , subsequently he got pulled over in his Mad Dog Morgan outfit
He was barred from driving , and was not even allowed to be a passenger in car in Victoria !
